Its a battery operated vehicle design for collecting the door to door waste in closed campouses.
The much-publicized service, which had to start across the city, is currently functional in just 20 wards of Bareilly as the municipal authorities lack adequate number of rickshaws.
The Bareilly Municipal Corporation (BMC) has 200 rickshaws which are collecting garbage of 20 wards. When the service of door to door garbage collection was inaugurated in October this year, the municipal authorities had claimed that they will implement this service soon in remaining 50 wards of the city but it remains to be fulfilled.
The cost for collecting garbage through one e-rickshaw will be equal to five cycle rickshawsfor the same amount of work.
The wards where this service is going on are Biharipur Civil Lines, Nomhala, Malukpur, Rampur Bagh, Gandhi Park, Biharipur Memran, Azamnagar, Phaltunganj, Siklapur, Sekh Mithu, Jatavpura, Haziyapur, Sanjay Nagar, Model Town, Kanoon Goyan, Bhur, Kankar Tola, Shehdana and Aizaznagar.
Aimed at keeping the city clean and hygienic, the sanitary staff go from door to door in each locality to collect garbage from each home or shop. The monthly user charge for a locality starts from Rs 50 for residential buildings and goes upto Rs 1,500 for commercial buildings like hotels.
